ABOUT I'MUN
The International Academy - Amman is proud to host its annual Model United Nations Conference, I'MUN '22, on October 27th. This is an entirely student-run and organised initiative. Our student organising committee has logged in many months of hard work. I'MUN is a conference which tackles the world's most pressing and relevant issues, creating a powerful learning experience which is engraved in the minds of all who attend it. Established in 2011, I'MUN has always aimed to stand out. This is why it is the only conference at which you will find "Fringes". "Fringes" is a unique and never before seen concept which approaches different crises in creative, engaging and authentic ways. |
THEME
In a world of thievery, only our self-liberty remains unstolen, but nowadays even that is not promised. Our minds are bombarded with a multitude of opinions and viewpoints, commandments of what we should and shouldn’t think, and consequently, our lenses warp. Our minds become puzzles whose pieces are shards of diverse and conflicting beliefs forced to fit into place, originality slowly turning into something of an old tale. Each institution follows an agenda, a strict set of beliefs that drive their morale and actions, and they dominate the thoughts that we claim are free. For if we oppose those ideals, we are suddenly of irrelevance and incorrectness, and must mold ourselves to fit the manifold ideals of society. Hence, a “Monopoly on Thought” has reigned over our thinking and situated the people in a state of vulnerability, where our words are either belittled for their originality or distorted by the masses. Ultimately, we have metamorphosed from individualists into pawns, whose thinking is being moved across the board by an omniscient puppeteer. But this monopolization does not have to control us. We cannot afford to continue being fed thoughts, and thus the burden is on our shoulders to instigate changes and make ourselves heard over the deceiving symphony of injustice. We must reclaim the agency over our minds. We must reject the Monopoly on Thought. |
