Presidential Welcome
Distinguished Delegates of the Economic and Social Council,
I welcome you to IMUN'22 on behalf of the ECOSOC chairing panel. I'm hoping that this conference will allow you to have the same life-changing experiences as those who came before you. This year, I want to push you as delegates to think differently so that you can come up with innovative ideas for solving important problems. Or, perhaps, try playing monopoly on your thoughts!
My name is Jude Arabiat, and it is a privilege for me to preside over this esteemed committee. The Economic and Social Council seeks to identify the points of confluence between the most important facets of any problem we may be facing, both the social and economic.
This year, you will attend IMUN as only students, but over the three days that you will represent the nations of the world, you will have the opportunity to grow and enrich yourselves so that you can leave the conference as leaders, innovators, and freethinkers. The future is in your hands as delegates. You have a big job keeping the world in order and in justice as the burgeoning generation. Many people are currently suffering as a result of how negligent governments all around the world are
As for the topics, we're going to talk about trade protectionism this year, with a focus on anti-dumping laws in particular. These issues are particularly relevant to us because we live in Jordan, which has a stringent policy against them. You have the opportunity to redraw the social boundaries that guide us forward but occasionally backward through debate. For the second topic, we'll discuss the current European Energy and Gas Crisis. The fate of gas, an apparently inconsequential resource that yet serves as the primary driver and incentive for the evolution of society and economies, is in your hands along with its daily altering headlines in Europe.
I wish every single one of you a productive and enjoyable conference, and I can’t wait to see what you, delegates, have prepared. See you on the 27th!
Sincerely,
Jude Arabiat
President of The Economic and Social Council
