Dear participants,
It is my absolute honor to invite you to the ninth annual International Academy Amman Model United Nations Conference (I’MUN), which will be held Thursday, April 1st, through Saturday, April 3rd. The conference will take place on a custom-made discord server. My name is Kais Saffouri; I will be serving as the Secretary General of I’MUN 21. I have worked my way up ever since my participation as a delegate; participating in multiple constructive debates. I then advanced into a chair and from there I took place as president. I was also honored the role of Deputy Head of Finance in my previous I'MUN experience. As we are living in the presence of a global pandemic, history is being made. Covid-19 is impacting the world as a whole, including the economy, political agenda, environment, and society. As learners of today and people who have first handedly witnessed the global pandemic, we must use the insight we have as an opportunity to our advantage while resolving global issues. Thus, i would like to present the I’MUN 2021 theme “A Political Pandemic”. |

Alongside the traditional Model UN committees, I’MUN distinguishes itself from any other conference by implementing a committee known as fringes. Moving away from the conventional MUN style of debate, Fringe Committees are usually quite small, involve directives rather than resolutions, and focus on several crises instead of one large topic. Fringes allow for the delegates to experience an enjoyable and memorable conference unlike any other.
It is my responsibility to address the arising situation of Covid-19. It is of utmost importance to ensure the safety of all delegates, staff members, advisors, faculty, and any other participants. As the conference is a few months away, the I’MUN team is continuously evaluating the problem. We are uncertain of what the situation would be by the time. However, we are taking all the necessary steps and precautions while planning the conference. I hope that delegates leave the conference with a memorable experience.
